Who They Are:

Since the mid-1990s, Kelly Harris has been using her broad array of skills to help people of all ages experience the positive benefits of laughter, joy, music, and movement for life enhancement and self-healing. Etc by Kelly lives up to its name in the diverse services that Kelly provides to her community in and around Lexington, including massage therapy, singing telegrams, ventriloquism, clowning, water therapy, and most recently a radio program for children. She also “employs” a cast of characters, including K.C. the Clown, Dee-oh-Gee (her dog puppet), and Tina (her toy poodle).

Entrepreneurial Philosophy:

“I like enhancing people,” Kelly says about her work. For her, Etc by Kelly is a way to make “humor, music, and education” the “important tools in healing” for the people she reaches. Her goal is to help others bring out the best in themselves in every facet of their lives. Her motto is: “I wish you a day filled with all the wonder, joy, and amusement as seen through the eyes of a child.” She recently has reached out to children directly through her Kid-a-ka-Zam radio show (Saturday mornings at 8:30 on WREL AM 1450). She added this to her repertoire because “I’d like children to develop their imaginations again, which sparks creativity.” Her array of “tools” to help people achieve personal wellness are, she believes, ways of “giving back the gifts given me.”

How did you get here?

Kelly Harris returned to the Shenandoah Valley in 1999, having acquired years of experience in sales, promotions, and community service, in addition to the “etcetera.” She dedicated herself full-time to Etc by Kelly in 2004, and now, she says, “I’m the CEO, CFO, assistant to the CEO and CFO, sanitation engineer, marketing executive, and fill-in-the-cracks floating employee!”
